Dr. Zia ul Haq of KMU conferred with best teacher award

Associate Professor and Director Khyber Medical University (KMU)Institue of Public Health &Social Sciences(IPH&SS) Dr. Zia ul Haq has been conferred with HEC best teacher award and a case prize of Rs. One lac by Engineer Baleegh ur Rahman Feberal Minister for Education & Professional Training in a ceremony held at Islamabad.

The award was based on assessments of qualification, teaching, research papers, research grants and many other parameters and those who earn the highest points become eligible for this national level award. Previously Dr. Zia ul Haq has received life time achievement award in recognition of services in the field of Public Health by the hand of His Excellency Mr. Iqbal Zafar Jhagra, Governor of  KP. Zia Ul Haq is the Director & Associate Professor at the IPH&SS. He earned his PhD in Public Health from University of Glasgow, UK.

Dr. Zia ul Haq is the author of many international impact factor articles and Primary Investigator of several large ongoing studies funded by department of health and National & International donors. In the last 2 years he has completed around 18 research projects and played important role in starting new academic programs such as family medicine, community dentistry, PhD Public Health, and establishment of Public Health Reference Laboratory & Business Incubation Centre.

Beside various forms at KMU he is also member of important committees of department of health on various public health issues and work in close collaboration with DG Health Office and Health Secretariat of KP. He is supervising six PhD students from Pakistan and UK and several Master and M. Phil students. He has dedicated this award to his wonderful teachers at Glasgow and all Public Health Workers.
