KMU-IPMR hold Two days workshop on Introduction to Osteopathy

Khyber Medical University (KMU) Institute of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (IPM&R) arranged a two-day workshop on ‘Introduction to Osteopathy’. Dr. Heidi Gaissmaier and Dr. Cristine Bauer from Germany, Dr. Faisal Naqvi from Canada and Dr. Syed Haider Ali and Dr. Usmara from Pakistan were the main facilitators of the workshop. The facilitators expressed their deep gratitude to the organisers who successfully organised this workshop which was attended by a large number of health care professionals coming from different parts of the province.

It is imperative to mention here that Osteopathy is a new growing medical field which is recognised in the developed   countries. However, this growing medical field is still new in the developing countries like Pakistan. The treatment option provided by Osteopaths is relatively less expensive and patients with chronic medical conditions can benefits from this in a relatively shorter period.

 At the end of the two-day workshop, certificate distribution ceremony was held at Multipurpose Hall of KMU which was attended by members from affiliated institutes of KMU and rehabilitation members of various tertiary care hospitals.  The Vice Chancellor, KMU, Prof. Dr. Arshad Javaid being the chief guest of the concluding ceremony has not only thanked the facilitators who travelled thousands of miles for this workshop but has also welcomed the idea of introducing this new medical field in the province and asked Director IPM&R, Dr. Haider Darain for planning and working in collaboration with international Osteopaths for bringing this new medical field to the province.

Beside others Registrar, Prof. Dr. Mohammad Saleem Gandapur, Dean Allied Health Sciences  Prof. Dr. Musarrat Jabin  Director IPM&R Dr, Haider Darian, faculty and a huge number of students also attended  the closing ceremony.
