MOU signed between IPH-KMU and NMU China

A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed between the Faculty of Public Health, Khyber Medical University (KMU), Peshawar and Nanjing Medical University (NMU), China, the documents were signed by the two Deans; Prof Zia Ul Haq from KMU and Prof Yankai Xia from NMU. The team of KMU who were invited by NMU China included Prof. Dr. Zia Ul Haq Dean, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Saleem Gandapur Registrar, Dr Maria Ishaque Khattak Lecturer IPH&SS and Dr. Saiqa Saleem Medical Education Scholar. The event took place at Nanjing Medical University in Jiangsu province of Peoples Republic of China. The event highlighted the mutual benefit this agreement would bring in terms of exchange of Masters and PhD level Public Health students, faculty development, research cooperation and establishment of Chinese center at KMU.

 

Addressing the event after the MoU signing ceremony, the Dean Public Health KMU Prof Zia voiced his great admiration to contribute in this event and was very impressed with the achievements of the Public Health academia in China. He said “This MOU obligates us to work collectively more diligently in the direction of the internationalization of learning and is aligned with the CPEC project and is also the focous of the current Government. Both public health departments will chase many noteworthy activities, such as educational and academic exchange; collaborative research, lectures, symposia and cooperation in projects for mutual interest; positive resourcefulness as scholars, faculty members and researchers exchange to stimulate cross-culture learning methods; investigation of subjects for combined proposals for worldwide funding.”

 

On the occasion Prof Saleem Gandapur Registrar of KMU believed that this collaboration was another step in the list of initiatives that have been taken by the Public Health department at KMU, he stated that.

 

Prof Yankai Xia, Dean School of Public Health at NMU China intended to commence collective enterprise within Pakistan starting with a NMU collaborative centre within KMU. In the concluding remarks of the ceremony, he articulated heartfelt appreciation to everybody whose devotion and hard work had made substantial contributions to this MOU. With good drive, clear determinations and sturdy commitment to work together, the Dean looked forward to the next steps towards our cooperation starting off with him and his fellow team members visiting Pakistan for the first time and attending the 1st Public Health Conference to be held at KMU on the 27th-28th February, 2019.
