Program Assessment of MHPE and MBBS conducted by QEC and Program of MHPE ranked on top among academic Programs of KMU

Quality Enhancement Cell of Khyber Medical University completed External Assessment of Programs of Master in Health Professions Education (MHPE) and Bachelor of Surgery and Bachelor of Medicine (MBBS). Assessment Team for Program of MHPE of Institute of Health Professions Education included Prof. Dr. Jawad Ahmed, Prof. Dr. Naeem Khattak and Associate Professor Dr. Shafiq Ahmed Tariq from Institute of Basic Medical Sciences (IBMS, KMU)
Assessment Team for Program of MBBS of KMU Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) included Prof. Dr. Jawad Ahmed, Associate Professor Dr. Shafiq Ahmed Tariq and Dr. Khalid Khan Assistant Professor from Institute of Basic Medical Sciences (IBMS, KMU)
In-depth assessment of Programs on the basis of Standards of Quality Education provided by Quality Assurance Agency, Higher Education Commission completed by the team. Criteria of Assessment were Program Mission Vision Objectives and Outcomes, Curriculum Design and Organization, Laboratories and Computing Facilities, Student Support and Advising, Process Control, Faculty, Institutional Facilities and Institutional Support. Achieved score of Program of MHPE was 75.5 and MBBS was 61.9 out of 100.
Finding Reports of both Programs were presented to the Vice Chancellor, Khyber Medical University Prof. Dr. Muhammad Hafizullah on June 19, 2012 in Committee room of Vice Chancellor’s Secretariat KMU. All the areas required for improvement were discussed in detail through the Power Point Presentation by Prof. Dr. Jawad Ahmad, (Head of AT). Keeping in view Heads of Institutes Prof. Dr. Saleem Khattak, Principal KIMS, KMU and Dr. Brekhna Jamil, Coordinator, IHPE presented implementation Plans of MBBS and MHPE respectively in front of Vice Chancellor for its approval. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Hafizullah approved the required resources as remedial actions against weaknesses mentioned in the implementation Plans. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Hafizullah also took Academic decisions for quality improvement.
At the end Vice Chancellor, KMU appreciated the efforts of Dr. Jamil Ahmed, Director and Deputy Director, MS. Asiyah Bukhari of QEC, KMU for improvement of Academic Programs of KMU through Self Assessment Processes.
