The Twelve Days marathon IT training concludes at KMU

“Incorporating Technology in Education (ITE) training program will not only improve the teaching and learning process, with emphasis on student centered learning approach but it will also help faculty members to prepare certain skills in their students like problem solving skills, communication and presentation skills and critical thinking skills”, it was stated by Prof. Dr. Mohammad Hafizullah VC KMU while talking as chief guest to the concluding ceremony of two  weeks ITE training  program organize by IT Section of KMU in joint collaboration with Nation Academy of Higher Education (NAHE)  Higher Education Commission Islamabad at Institute of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (IPM&R), Peshawar. Mr. Talat Khurshid Adviser P&D HEC and Regional Director HEC were also present at the occasion.

Prof Dr. Mohammad Hafizullah said that ITE Program will increase the effective and innovative use of ICT by the faculty members belonging to various disciplines other than Computer Science and Information Technology. He said IT section of KMU is working hard and we appreciated its efforts for organizing such a successful training program. He said we needed web based knowledge and we are trying to enable our every institute to have advanced IT facilities.

VC KMU emphasized that every PhD Scholar should have go through the ITE course. He committed that our constituent institutes i.e PGCN, IPH&SS and IPM&R should also go through this program. This is not the end, it is beginning, the entire KMU constituent Institutes will be provided technological skills on war footed basis, he added.

Prof. Hafizullah while lauding the HEC role in supporting higher education sector has said that HEC is supporting us in different courses at various levels like MHPE and MHR are sponsoring by HEC. He hoped that HEC will continue its support in strengthening our higher education institutions.

Mr. Talat Khurshid Adviser P&D HEC while talking to the ceremony said HEC raised the number of public sector universities from 9 to 130 in a very short period of time. He said refresher courses are very important for refreshing our minds and skills.

He said HEC is trying its best for strengthening of Higher Education at all levels. A lot can be extracted from HEC in shape of funds, proposals, scholarships, publishing papers, participation in international conferences.  

Mr. Muhammad Sohail, IT In charge KMU & Coordinator of the training program while throwing light on the training objectives said that NAHE Phase-II is a project of Learning Innovation Division (LID), HEC for continuous professional development of teaching faculty to enhance teaching and research skills through professional development programs conducted at the door step of Higher Education Institutions. He added that instead of theory more stress was given on practical work and that was one of the main causes which made the training successful and fruitful.

           

In the first phase of ITE training program, LID has got trained 343 participants from 5 public sector universities; KMU is the 2nd medical university of the country and 3rd university of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, which has gone through this innovative training program. In the end VC KMU and Adviser P&D HEC distributed certificates among the participants.
