Welcome Party to Vice Chancellor Kmu

Vice chancellor, Khyber Medical University (KMU) Peshawar, Prof. Dr. Arshad Javaid said that Research & Training as well as development of linkages with Tertiary care hospitals of the province will be his top most priority, he was talking as chief guest to the welcome party organized in his honor at KMU. Besides others founder VC Prof. Dr. Daud Khan and recently retired VC Prof. Dr. Hafizullah, Registrar KMU Prof. Dr. Muhammad Salim Gandapur, Head of various institutes, deans, faculty and administration staff was also present at the occasion.

 

Prof. Dr. Arshad Javaid said, KMU has achieved a lot of developments in the last 10 years which can’t be ignore but this progress must be use for the overall betterment of the society. He said that Teaching hospitals of the province performing a great job in the field of research and training but unfortunately due to lack of close coordination and linkages the research carried out in the tertiary care hospitals can’t use for high tech research at university level.

 

The newly appointed VC said that universities being a source of generation new vistas of knowledge must focus on to identify and suggest proper recommendation to overcome the burden diseases on society. He urged that research and training is core function of a university and being a sole public sector medical university of province KMU has a huge responsibility to coup with the challenges face by society in health related issues.

 

Research and how to prevent on new communicable and non-communicable diseases and cure of various illnesses is the real challenge to KMU. To achieve the target goals formation of a proper vision and to set priorities will be his core ambition. In this regard he shall welcome suggestions and guidance from former vice chancellors and all stakeholders. Merit, punctuality, transparency, quality research and building of better public image will be his top priorities, he added. Prof. Dr. Daud Khan, Prof. Dr. Hafizullah and Prof. Dr. Salim Gandapur also talked to the ceremony.
