14th meeting of KMU Senate held at Governor House Peshawar (28th June, 2021)
The 14th Meeting of Khyber Medical University (KMU) Peshawar Senate was held on 28.06.2021 at Governor House Peshawar under the chairmanship of Chancellor KMU/Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP). Prof Dr Zia Ul Haq VC KMU, Additional Secretary Health Department, Secretary HED, Dr. Ihsan Ul Haq Retired Officer PAS Group, Prof Mukhtiar Alam Pro VC University of Swabi, Mr.Zia Ul Haq Sarhadi Ex-vice president Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry KP, Prof Dr. Mussarat Jabeen KMU-IMS Kohat, Dr, Muhammad Alam Associate Professor KMU-IMS Kohat, Dr. Saad liaqat Assistant Professor KMI-IBMS Peshawar, Dr.Imran Inayat Yousafzai Lecturer KMU-INS Peshawar, Prof Dr. Muhammad Saleem Gandapur Registrar/Secretary of senate KMU, Mr.Nasir Saleem Arab Additional Registrar KMU and Dr. Zohaib Khan Director ORIC KMU Peshawar attended the meeting.
It is worth mentioning that the sole agenda of the meeting was approval of the University’s budget for the financial year 2021-22. The VC KMU Prof Dr. Zia Ul Haq presented the annual surplus budget of fiscal year 2021-22 worth Rs.337.664 million as well as revised estimates for 2020-21 amounting to Rs.362.300 million. After threadbare discussion, the forum approved the budget estimates recommended by F&PC and Syndicate respectively.
Meanwhile talking to the Senate Governor KP, Mr. Shah Farman appreciated the overall progress of KMU especially its financial discipline. He loped that KMU would focus on research activities related to public health issues and would play a leading role in confronting the disease burden on health sector in the province.
Earlier while briefing the Senate, VC KMU Prof Dr. Zia Ul Haq said that KMU is one of the new generations of Medical Universities in Pakistan, which is envisaged to grow as a modern centre of excellence in the field of medical sciences and technology. He said that KMU expected to be one of the leading national universities in the region an institution recognized globally for excellence in learning, research and supporting a community of health professionals committed to public services, and enabling the young graduates to attain their true potential in becoming competent caring and inquisitive members of the healthcare team.
