Signing of Collaboration Agreement for Regional Diploma Program in Family Medicine 1 July 2021 at Serena Islamabad
Nine leading Universities signed collaboration agreement to start WHO Regional Diploma course in
Family Medicine to address the shortage of family physicians to strengthen the PHC. Areas of
collaboration include health systems strengthening, health workforce development and health
professionals networking.
KMU has already started the Diploma Family Medicine programme in 2018 and will be enrolling 4th
batch this august. These other universities will be starting this one-year Diploma in Family Medicine
in collaboration with WHO.
The Government of Pakistan is committed to achieve sustainable development goals and universal
health coverage through strengthening primary healthcare. This programme will be an important
milestone in achieving this goal.
The vision of KMU Vice Chancellor is to ensure high quality medical education. The family medicine
course is a key step for implementing family practice approach and universal health coverage.
